Dark Dominion

You are the youngest General ever to leave the Academy of Shadows. High Command did not give you an army. It gave you a ruined camp on the border, and the hope that you would fail quietly.

Dark Dominion is a camp-management game with round-based auto-battles. Rebuild the camp, summon and train your troops, and march on eleven territories of the Light, each defended by its own Inquisitor.

The camp

• Walk around your camp and bring every building back from ruin: Barracks, Dark Altar, Mess Hall, Agoge, Bank, Farm, Fishing Dock and Merchant. Buildings change their look as they improve.
• Put troops to work on the Farm and the Dock. They learn their trade and produce crops, meat and water.
• Send ships to trade automatically and turn what you produce into gold.
• Strangers dock with commissions and letters arrive in the mailbox: lend your soldiers for a raid, an escort or a rescue, and earn prestige.
• Things keep moving while the game is closed: harvests, training and trade.

The army

• More than 30 troops of the Shadows to summon: skeletons, orcs, goblins, trolls, imps, dark elves, undead, dragons and siege engines.
• Every troop has its own name, and some earn a title: Zagonak the Flayer, Blixibix the Scourge.
• Six levels of progression, with a class awakening at level 4 and a mastery aura at level 6.
• Fuse troops, train them at the Agoge, and keep them fed: an army with low morale deserts.

The battles

• Place your troops on the grid and watch them fight. You are not a spectator: cast black magic on the field.
• Each territory is twenty rounds or more, with different kinds of waves, minibosses and an Inquisitor at the end.
• Between rounds, the Field Tent: potions, expedition boosts and artifacts that give something and take something.
• After each miniboss, the usual decision: extract the loot and go home, or carry on and risk half of it.

This is a beta

The game can be played from start to finish, but it is still being balanced and you will find rough edges. Saves from this version may not work in later ones. Feedback is very welcome in the comments.

Controls

• WASD or arrow keys: move around the camp
• E or click: enter a building, talk
• Mouse: everything else
• Click on the battlefield: cast black magic
• Q: emergency healing (once unlocked)
• Esc: close a panel, leave a building

The language (English or Spanish) is changed in Options.

Requirements

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. No installation: unzip and run DominioOscuro.exe. Windows may warn that the publisher is unknown the first time; choose "More info" and "Run anyway".
